WHEN CAN CHRIST BE OF NO EFFECT TO YOU? AND HOW CAN YOU FALL AWAY FROM GOD’S GRACE?
(Gal 5:4) “Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.” (Kjv)
(Gal 5:4) You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. (Nkjv)
(Gal 5:4) You who are trying to be justified by law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.
(Gal 5:4) “For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace.” (Niv)
(Gal 3:11) Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, because, “The righteous will live by faith.”
NO ONE CAN BOAST UNDER THE “LAW OF FAITH”, FOR IT SAYS THAT A MAN IS JUSTIFIED BY FAITH APART FROM OBSERVING THE LAW.
(Rom 3:27-28) Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law.
WHEN JESUS CAME, HE SETS THE LAW ON A HIGHER PLAIN (Mat 5:27-28) TO REMIND US THAT WE CANNOT KEEP IT IN AND OF OURSELVES. YOU SEE,
THE LAW IS LIKE A MIRROR, IT SHOWS HOW DIRTY YOUR FACE IS, BUT YOU DON’T RUB YOUR FACE ON THE MIRROR TO CLEAN IT; YOU GO TO SOMETHING OR SOMEONE OTHER THAN THE MIRROR.
IN THE END, ONLY GOD’S GRACE CAN GIVE US SALVATION (Eph 1:7-8, 2:8-9). IT DOESN’T DENY THE LAW; IT AFFIRMS IT AND SHOWS ULTIMATELY THE IMPOSSIBILITY FOR YOU AND ME TO KEEP IT. SO IT DOES NOT DESTROY THE LAW BUT SHOWS THAT CHRIST ALONE COMPLETELY KEPT IT AND NO ONE ELSE EVER DID.
UNDER THE NEW COVENANT OF GRACE, CHRIST FULFILLED “IN US” ALL THE RIGHTEOUS REQUIREMENTS OF THE LAW. SO IN ESSENCE, CHRIST OBEYED PERFECTLY WHAT WE CANNOT OBEY AND PAID IN FULL WHAT WE CANNOT PAY AND CREDITED IT “IN US”. THAT IS WHAT GRACE IS ALL ABOUT!
(Rom 8:3-4) “For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.”
IT’S ALL ABOUT JESUS!
