IT IS WITHOUT A DOUBT THAT IN CHRIST, WE ARE “UNDER GRACE” (NEW COVENANT) AND NOT “UNDER LAW” (OLD COVENANT). HOWEVER, NOT BECAUSE WE ARE UNDER GRACE, IT GIVES US LICENSE TO VIOLATE GOD’S MORAL LAW. YOU SEE, UNDER GRACE, WE ARE GUIDED BY TWO MAJOR LAWS; THE “LAW OF LOVE” AND THE “LAW OF FAITH”.
THE ROYAL “LAW OF LOVE” SAYS: (John 13:34) “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.”
UNDER THE NEW COVENANT OF GRACE, WE ARE ADMONISHED TO DO EVERYTHING IN LOVE, TO SERVE ONE ANOTHER IN LOVE AND TO WALK IN LOVE. YOU SEE, THE BIBLE SAYS, “LOVE” IS THE FULFILLMENT OF THE LAW.
(1Cor 16:14) “Do everything in love.”
(Gal 5:13b) “Serve one another in love.”
(Eph 5:2) “And walk in love.”
(Rom. 13:10b) “Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law”
SO IN ESSENCE, ALTHOUGH WE ARE NOT “UNDER LAW” (OLD COVENANT) BUT “UNDER GRACE” (NEW COVENANT) WE STILL UPHOLD THE LAW BECAUSE WE ARE ADMONISHED TO WALK IN LOVE.
ANOTHER IMPORTANT LAW THAT GUIDES THE NEW COVENANT PEOPLE IS THE “LAW OF FAITH”. (Rom. 3:27-28) “Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the “Law of Faith”. For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law.”
YOU SEE, AFTER WE RECEIVED THE RIGHTEOUSNESS FROM GOD BY FAITH IN CHRIST JESUS, WE ARE ADMONISHED TO LIVE BY FAITH FROM FIRST TO LAST. (Rom 1:17) For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”
HERE ARE SOME REMINDERS AND ADMONITIONS CONCERNING FAITH.
(Matt 9:29) “According to your faith it shall be done to you.
(Rom. 1:17) “The righteous shall live by faith”
(2 Cor. 5:7) “We walk by faith not by sight”
(1 Tim 6:12) “Fight a good fight of faith.”
(Heb 11:6) “Without faith it is impossible to please God”
WHAT COUNTS IS FAITH EXPRESSING ITSELF THROUGH LOVE!
(Gal 5:6b) “The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.
