FIRST AND FOREMOST, YOU NEED TO REALIZE THAT THE “TEN COMMANDMENTS” IS THE WORDS OF THE OLD COVENANT GIVEN TO THE JEWS.
(Exodus 34:28) So he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.

NOTICE THE FIRST TWO VERSES OF EXODUS CHAPTER TWENTY WERE ADDRESS TO THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL BEFORE THE WORDS OF THE COVENANT WERE STATED.
(Exodus 20:1-2) And God spoke all these words, saying: “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

THE WORDS OF THE OLD COVENANT OF THE LAW POINTS TO MEN’S WORK– “YOU SHALL……”
(Exodus 20:3) “You shall have no other gods before Me.
(Exodus 20:4) “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;
(Exodus 20:5) you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,
(Exodus 20:6) but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
(Exodus 20:7) “You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
(Exodus 20:8) “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
(Exodus 20:9) Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
(Exodus 20:10) but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates.
(Exodus 20:11) For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
(Exodus 20:12) “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you.
(Exodus 20:13) “You shall not murder.
(Exodus 20:14) “You shall not commit adultery.
(Exodus 20:15) “You shall not steal.
(Exodus 20:16) “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
(Exodus 20:17) “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.”

THE LAW (OLD COVENANT) ALSO HAD IMPLEMENTING RULES AND REGULATIONS, FEASTS AND CELEBRATIONS FOUND IN THE BOOK OF THE LAW OF MOSES.

IN THE BOOK OF JEREMIAH, GOD PROMISED TO MAKE A NEW COVENANT DIFFERENT FROM THE COVENANT HE MADE WITH ISRAEL’S FOREFATHERS AT MOUNT SINAI BECAUSE THEY BROKE HIS COVENANT.
(Jeremiah 31:31) “The time is coming,” declares the LORD, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.
(Jeremiah 31:32) It will not be like the covenant I made with their forefathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband to them,” declares the LORD.

WHEN CHRIST CAN, HE MEDIATED THE NEW COVENANT WITH THE FATHER FOUNDER ON BETTER PROMISES.
(Hebrews 9:15) For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.
(Hebrews 8:6) But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.

THE “NEW COVENANT OF GRACE” ON THE OTHER HAND POINTS TO GOD’S WORK – “I WILL….” (HEB 8:10-13).
“For this is the covenant that
I WILL make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord:
I WILL Laws into their mind and write them in their hearts, and
I WILL be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall not each man teach his neighbor, and each man his brother, saying, know the Lord, for all shall know Me, from the least to the greatest. For
I WILL merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities
I WILL remember no more.” In that He says, a new covenant, He has made the first one old. Now that which decays and becomes old is ready to vanish away.
