“The days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will raise up to David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right. In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: The LORD Our Righteousness.” (Jeremiah 23: 5-6).
Yahweh + Havah = JEHOVAH = LORD = “Panginoon” = The Eternal God who is constantly revealing Himself to us
Prior to their imminent captivity in Babylon, sometime in 600 BC, the All-knowing God of the Bible told Jeremiah the following prophecies for us to know and heed:
1. Because of their unfaithfulness to God, the Israelites will be banished in various lands. (This occurred in 70 AD when Roman General Titus leveled Jerusalem, destroyed the Temple and the Jews were forced to disperse in various countries.)
2. Because of his mercy, the LORD will gather a remnant of Israelites out of different countries where they were driven. (After the Nazis massacred 6 million Jews in the early 1940’s, Israel became a nation in 1948 and many Jews from different countries settled back to the Promised Land.)
3. A righteous King from David’s line will save the Jews – militarily and spiritually – and Israel will live in safety. (This is still a future event when the Messiah – Prophet, High Priest and Divine King – comes back and reigns in righteousness in Jerusalem.)
Like the Israelites, we’re all unfaithful to God – sinners – and therefore, subject to God’s wrath.
So, how do you plan to be made right or be righteous in God’s sight? By your good works? By obeying the 10 Commandments? By performing rites like baptism, pilgrimage, etc.? By being a member of a religious organization? Intercession of someone?
Did you know that Jesus Christ is our righteousness, our holiness and our redemption? (1 Corinthians 1: 30).
And why? Because Jesus lived a life you and I should have lived – sinless. And Jesus died a death we should have died in order to take away and pay in full the penalty of all our sins – past, present and future. Finally, Jesus resurrected from the dead which means God accepted his once and for all sacrifice and so, like Jesus, we will also resurrect from the dead someday.
Hence, there’s only 1 right way to be made right with God – through faith in Jesus Christ and what He has done for us alone.
To date, God is still offering this free Gift or great exchange: All of your sins will be imputed/credited to Jesus Christ and Jesus’ righteousness will be imputed/credited to you through faith alone, once you believe and accept Him as your Savior and LORD.
Have you believed in JEHOVAH – TSIDKENU and accepted God’s Gift of Righteousness so that you will surely get to Heaven someday for all eternity? Have you shared the good news – Jesus Christ and what He has done for us – to your friends? Why not?
