The LORD is My PEACE (JEHOVAH – SHALOM) ( 444 words)

Yahweh + Havah = JEHOVAH = LORD = “Panginoon” = The Eternal God who is constantly revealing Himself to us

The Greek word for peace means unity or wellness; in Hebrew, it’s total well-being.

Chosen by God, Gideon was one of the early judges of Israel who freed his countrymen from the oppressive rule of the Midianites.

When Gideon was making a burnt offering of goat meat and unleavened bread to the LORD, he saw the angel of the LORD. He thought he would die and exclaimed, “Ah, Sovereign LORD, I have seen the angel of the LORD face to face!”

But the LORD said to him, “Peace! Do not be afraid. You are not going to die.”

“So Gideon built an altar to the LORD and called it The LORD is Peace.” (Judges 6: 19-24).

Did you know that our LORD Jesus Christ, through His death on the cross and His resurrection from the grave, has brought peace between Holy God and sinful but believing men and women? (Romans 5: 1, Ephesians 2: 14).

When the disciples of Jesus were caught up in a raging storm while inside a boat in the Sea of Galilee, they woke up Jesus to save them.

Jesus got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Peace! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. (Mark 4: 37-39).

Here, on a near-death experience, Jesus magnificently displayed His authority over His creation (air and water), to the wonder and awe of His very frightened disciples.
