Tithe came from the Anglo-Saxon word, teotha, which means a tenth part.

As our Creator, GOD owns everything and He loves to give us many things for our enjoyment. (1 Timothy 6: 17).

GOD gives us the ability (e.g., time, ideas, air, sunshine, water, etc.) to produce wealth. (Deuteronomy 8: 18). All He asks from us is to bring back the tithe or 10% of our income that belongs to Him. (Leviticus 27: 30). Please note that you can’t give what is not yours, and if you keep the tithes for yourself, you’re robbing GOD. (Malachi 3: 8).

The rest of our income is for our own use or stewardship. (We can’t bring our wealth with us when we die, but we can invest these treasures now for our rewards in Heaven someday.)

Jesus Christ tells Believers to practice tithing while doing important things in life – justice, mercy and faithfulness. (Matthew 23: 23). (When we believe in Jesus Christ as the Savior of our soul and the Lord of our life, then we must also believe that He is the Savior and Lord of our wallet, isn’t it?)

Remember: Tithing will not bring you and me to Heaven someday. Only Jesus Christ can do this for us – for *FREE! But then, GOD can use our tithes to bring many souls of men and women to His Kingdom in Heaven.

Tithing simply gives us a position of trust in GOD’s sight. (If we can be trusted in small things, then GOD can trusts us with bigger things.)

Ultimately, tithing boils down to a personal attitude in one’s heart – a matter of believing and obeying GOD and His Word.

Since the tithes belong to GOD, did you ever ask yourself how GOD is going to use His tithes here on earth? Surely, GOD has some specific words for us on this subject, isn’t it?.

Now, have you ever heard your Pastor, Minister or Priest preach ON TITHING based on these key Bible verses – GOD’s Word?

“Be sure to set aside a tenth of all that your fields produce each year. Eat the tithe of your grain, new wine and oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks in the presence of the LORD your God at the place he will choose as a dwelling place for his Name, so that you may learn to revere the LORD your God always.

But if the place is too distant …., then exchange your tithe for silver…. Use the silver to buy whatever you like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented drink, or anything you wish. Then you and your household shall eat there in the presence of the LORD your God and rejoice. And do not neglect the Levites living in your towns, for they have no allotment or inheritance of their own.

At the end of every three years, bring the tithes of that year’s produce and store it in your towns, so that the Levites and the aliens, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns may come and eat and be satisfied and so that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.” (Deuteronomy 14: 22-29).

The above Bible verses ON TITHING are echoing and authenticating similar Bible verses ON TITHING as written in Deuteronomy 12: 17-19.

So, why is a portion of GOD’s Tithe for you and your family to eat? Would the family that eats, drinks and worships together, stays together? The family is the basic unit of society. Could it be that a strong/solid family in the LORD means a strong/solid nation in the LORD?

Why is a portion of GOD’s tithe also for the Levites? Those who feed you spiritually with GOD’s Word – Pastors, Teachers, Priests, and others – shouldn’t you feed them physically in return?

And why is 1/3 (every 3 years) of GOD’s tithe for the poor: widows, orphans, Levites, others? Those who can’t afford to feed themselves and whom you feed physically, wouldn’t they be more open to be fed spiritually by you with GOD’s Word someday? Or, would it be easier to reach a poor man’s heart through his stomach?

If we obey these GOD’s words ON TITHING, do you think that there will be more Tithers? More Givers? And more Believers? Will it then be easier for us to share the Gospel of GOD’s Grace to the poor and to those who are poor in spirit, thereby expanding GOD’s Kingdom?

Satan deceived Eve via pleasure, possession and pride. Adam believed his wife, Eve, he sinned and he lost. (Genesis 3). Using the same strategy, Satan tested Jesus Christ also. However, Jesus relied on the Word of GOD, He didn’t sin and He won. (Matthew 4: 1-11). Now, could it be that Satan is using the same strategy – pleasure, possession and pride – in deceiving Believers ON TITHING?

Questions beg for Answers and then, Actions! What do you think in your heart ON TITHING?

To GOD be all glory!
