SO OFTEN, WE MISTAKENLY CONCLUDE THAT JESUS WAS REFERRING TO THE DECALOGUE (TEN COMMANDMENTS) WHEN HE SAID “KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS”; BUT THAT IS NOT SO. NOTICE THE DISTINCTION CHRIST MADE BETWEEN HIS FATHER’S COMMANDMENTS AND HIS COMMANDMENTS. (John 15:10) “If you KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS, YOU WILL ABIDE IN MY LOVE, just as I HAVE KEPT MY FATHER’S COMMANDMENTS AND ABIDE IN HIS LOVE.” (John 15:12) “This is My commandment, that you LOVE ONE ANOTHER AS I HAVE LOVED YOU.” MANY DO NOT REALIZE THAT WE WHO ARE IN CHRIST ARE UNDER A NEW COVENANT OF GRACE THAT CHRIST MEDIATED WITH THE FATHER. (Heb 8:6) But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.

UNDERSTAND THEN THAT A NEW COVENANT REQUIRES A NEW HIGH PRIEST AND A NEW PRIESTHOOD, AND FOR THIS REASON GOD DESIGNATED CHRIST AS OUR HIGH PRIEST IN THE ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK. (Heb 5:10) “And was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek.” WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT? YOU SEE, A NEW PRIESTHOOD REQUIRES A CHANGE OF LAW. (Heb 7:12) “For when there is a change of the priesthood, there must also be a change of the law.” JESUS OUR HIGH PRIEST GAVE US A NEW COMMANDMENT. (John 13:34) “A new commandment I give to you, that you LOVE ONE ANOTHER; AS I HAVE LOVED YOU, that you also love one another. (John 13:35) By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” THE GOSPEL SAYS THAT “LOVE” (AGAPE) IS THE FULFILLMENT OF THE LAW, (Rom 13:10b) “Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.” WHEN AN EXPERT OF THE LAW TESTED JESUS AND ASKED, WHICH ONE IS THE GREATEST OF ALL THE COMMANDMENTS? NOTICE THAT HE DID NOT PICK ONE, BUT INSTEAD GAVE TWO COMMANDMENTS CENTERED ON AGAPE LOVE. AND THEN SAID, “ON THESE TWO HANG ALL THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS”. (Mat 22:37-40) “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it, you shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets. BEAR IN MIND THAT IN CHRIST, WE ARE NOT UNDER LAW (OLD COVENANT) BUT UNDER GRACE (NEW COVENANT). (Rom 6:14) For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. (Rom 6:15) What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! IT’S ALL ABOUT JESUS!
