SOMETHING HAPPENED ON THE CROSS THAT CAN ONLY BE UNDERSTOOD AND RECEIVED BY FAITH; THAT THOSE WHO ARE IN CHRIST HAVE BEEN CRUCIFIED WITH HIM SO THAT THE BODY OF SIN MIGHT BE DONE AWAY WITH. (Rom 6:6-7) “For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin—because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.”
YOU SEE, BY DYING WITH CHRIST, WE HAVE BEEN RELEASED FROM THE LAW SO THAT WE SERVE IN THE NEW WAY OF THE SPIRIT.
(Rom 7:6) “But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been RELEASED FROM THE LAW so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.”
NOT ONLY SO, BY BECOMING PART OF THE BODY OF CHRIST, WE ALSO BECOME “DEAD TO THE LAW” THAT WE MAY BE MARRIED TO CHRIST; THAT WE SHOULD BEAR FRUIT TO GOD.
(Rom 7:4) Therefore, my brethren, you also have become DEAD TO THE LAW THROUGH THE BODY OF CHRIST, that you may be married to another—to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God.
THIS IS THE REASON WHY UNDER GRACE (NEW COVENANT), GOD IS NOT COUNTING SIN AGAINST THOSE WHO ARE IN CHRIST.
(2Cor 5:19a) “God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them.”
YOU SEE, GOD IS FULFILLING WHAT HE SAID HE WILL DO UNDER THE NEW COVENANT:
(Heb 8:12) “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear.”
ANOTHER IMPORTANT THING THAT WILL HELP US UNDERSTAND OUR POSITION IN CHRIST WAS THE FACT THAT WHEN WE WERE CRUCIFIED, DIED AND RAISED WITH CHRIST, WE WERE RAISED IN THE SPIRIT.
(Rom 8:9) “But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.”
IN ESSENCE, IN CHRIST, WE ARE RESURRECTED BEINGS TEMPORARILY DWELLING IN OUR LOWLY BODIES, WAITING TO BE CLOTHED WITH OUR IMMORTAL BODIES WHEN CHRIST COMES FOR US.
(Php 3:20-21) “But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.”
REMEMBER, IN CHRIST, WE ARE NO LONGER IN THE FLESH BECAUSE THE HOLY SPIRIT DWELLS IN US.
SO IN REALITY, IN CHRIST, YOUR BODY IS DEAD TO SIN, YET YOUR SPIRIT IS ALIVE BECAUSE OF THE GIFT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS IMPUTED IN YOU WHEN YOU BELIEVED.
(Rom 8:10) “But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness.”
BECAUSE IN CHRIST, WE ARE CRUCIFIED WITH HIM, DIED WITH HIM, BURIED WITH HIM AND RAISED WITH HIM IN THE SPIRIT, WE ARE CONSIDERED “DEAD TO THE LAW” OR “RELEASED FROM THE LAW” AND THEREFORE, SIN IS NO LONGER CREDITED AGAINST US.
BECAUSE OF THOSE TRUTHS, WE CAN NOW UNDERSTAND WHY THE BIBLE SAYS THAT UNDER GRACE (NEW COVENANT), SIN CAN NOT EXERCISE DOMINION OVER THOSE WHO ARE IN CHRIST.
(Rom 6:14-15) “For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!”
SOME OF THE APOSTLE PAUL’S DETRACTORS MUST HAVE HEARD HIS GOSPEL OF GRACE TEACHING AND SARCASTICALLY COMMENTED THAT “GRACE ALLOWS CHRISTIANS TO COMMIT SIN”, FOR THE APOSTLE PAUL TO SAY: what then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!” (Rom 6:15).
