IN THE BOOK OF HEBREWS, THE HOLY SPIRIT THOUGH THE APOSTLE PAUL SHOWS THE SUPERIORITY OF CHRIST OVER EVERYTHING. ONE IN PARTICULAR WAS HIS SUPERIORITY OVER MOSES (Heb 3:1-4).
IN THE BOOK OF JOHN, THE HOLY SPIRIT AGAIN MADE A DISTINCTION BETWEEN CHRIST AND MOSES WHEN HE SAID: (John 1:17) “For the Law was given through Moses, but Grace and Truth came through Jesus Christ.”
NOTE: THE TIME DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE GIVING OF THE “LAW” AND THE COMING OF “GRACE AND TRUTH” IS ABOUT ONE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED YEARS (1,500yrs).
WHEN CHRIST CAME, HE FULFILLED ALL THE RIGHTEOUS REQUIREMENTS OF THE LAW “IN US” (Rom 8:3-4).
HIS MISSION WAS TO DO THE WILL OF THE FATHER; TO SET ASIDE THE FIRST COVENANT (Dt 13:4) AND ESTABLISH THE SECOND COVENANT (Heb 8:6-9).
(Heb 10:9-10) “Then he said, “Here I am, I have come to do your will.” He sets aside the first to establish the second. And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”
IN THE PROCESS, GOD MADE CHRIST A HIGH PRIEST IN THE ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK WITH AN OATH AND FOR THIS REASON THE LAW MUST ALSO BE CHANGED; DEFERENT PRIESTHOOD, DIFFERENT LAW. (Heb 7:12) “For when there is a change of the priesthood, there must also be a change of the law.”
AN ANNULLING OF THE LAW (OLD COVENANT-Dt 4:13) THEREFORE BECAME NECESSARY TO GIVE WAY FOR THE BRINGING IN OF A BETTER HOPE (NEW COVENANT-Heb 8:6-9).
(Heb 7:18-9) “For on the one hand there is an annulling of the former commandment because of its weakness and unprofitableness, for the law made nothing perfect; on the other hand, there is the bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God.”
CHRIST MEDIATED A NEW COVENANT OF GRACE WITH THE FATHER, WHICH WAS ESTABLISHED ON BETTER PROMISES.
(Heb 8:6) “But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.”
WHEN CHRIST COMPLETED HIS MISSION, THE HOLY SPIRIT THROUGH THE APOSTLE PAUL SAID:
(Rom 10:4) “Christ is the end of the law so THAT THERE MAY BE RIGHTEOUSNESS FOR EVERYONE WHO BELIEVES.”
BEAR IN MIND THAT IN CHRIST, YOU ARE NOT UNDER LAW BUT UNDER GRACE WHERE SIN IS POWERLESS OVER YOU.
(Rom 6:14-15) “For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!”
IT’S ALL ABOUT JESUS!
