JESUS IN THE BIBLE (New Testament)

JESUS IN THE BIBLE (New Testament)

The Bible is the story about God, Man, Sin, and Jesus Christ – the redemption of mankind from the slavery to sin and to Satan.

In the Old Testament, we find the Covenant (agreement) of Law that God made with Israel. And in the New Testament, we find the Covenant of Grace that God made for all people – you and me.

If the Bible is a building, the Old Testament is the foundation while the New Testament is the superstructure. The New is in the Old contained, while the Old is in the New explained.

And if the 39 books of the Old Testament can be summarized in 1 word, it would thus be: MESSIAH (Prophet, High Priest and Divine King in 1 Person). Likewise, if the 27 books of the New Testament can be expressed in 1 word, it would thus be: JESUS (God saves).

Thus, the whole Bible means: God saves (JESUS) you and me through The Prophet, The High Priest, and The Divine King (MESSIAH).

Jesus Christ declared, “in the volume of the book (Bible) it is written about Me.” (Hebrews 10: 7, Luke 24: 44). Here’s Jesus Christ in the New Testament of the Bible:

1. Matthew – Written for the Jews, Jesus Christ is King, The Promised Messiah

2. Mark – Written for the Romans, Jesus is depicted as Servant of God

3. Luke – Written for the Greeks, Jesus is set forth as perfect Man – Son of Man

4. John – Written for all people, Jesus is portrayed as God – Son of God

5. Acts – Jesus as Living Lord

6. Romans – Jesus as Our Righteousness

7. 1 Corinthians – Jesus as Our Lord

8. 2 Corinthians – Jesus as Our Sufficiency

9. Galatians – Jesus as Our Liberty

10. Ephesians – Jesus is Our All in All

11. Philippians – Jesus is our Joy

12. Colosians – Jesus is our Life

13. 1 Thessalonians – Jesus is The Coming One

14. 2 Thessalonians – Jesus is our Returning Lord

15. 1 Timothy – Jesus is our Teacher

16. 2 Timothy – Jesus is our Example

17. Titus and Philemon – Jesus is our Pattern; Our Lord and Master

18. Hebrews – Jesus as Our Intercessor at the Throne

19. James – Jesus is Our Model or Pattern

20. 1 Peter – Jesus as The Precious Cornerstone of our Faith

21. 2 Peter – Jesus as our Strength

22. 1, 2, 3 John – Jesus is Our Life; the Truth; the Way

23. Jude – Jesus is our Keeper

24 Revelation – Jesus is our Triumphant King

Now, Who is Jesus Christ to you?

If Jesus Christ is not your Savior and Lord who will bring you to Heaven someday(John 3: 16-18, Ephesians 2: 8-9), then He will be your Judge who will consign you in a company and place you will abhor forever. (Revelation 20: 7-15).

ARE YOU A CITIZEN OF HEAVEN?

BITE-SIZE SOULFOOD #11

ARE YOU A CITIZEN OF HEAVEN?

Heaven is a kingdom which means it is ruled by a King.

1. What is Heaven?
Heaven is a place of amazing love, of exhilirating joy, of total peace, of spectacular beauty, of awesome power, and of incalculable riches.
And Heaven is an abode without evil – no sin, no suffering and no death – for all eternity.
Go on, picture yourself in the ultimate unending pleasure – Heaven!

2. Who is the King of Heaven?
Jesus Christ is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. He is the King of the New Heaven and the New Earth. (Revelation 19: 16, 21: 1).

3. Who are the citizens of Heaven?
The citizens of Heaven are children of God.
And children of God are those who believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.
“Yet to all who recieve him, to those who believed in his name (Jesus Christ), he gave the right to become children of God . . . ” (John 1: 12-13, 3: 16-17).

4. What does it mean to be a citizen of Heaven?
A citizen of Heaven is the King’s Ambassador here on Earth. (2 Corinthians 5: 20).
The Earth is her/his mission field, not native land, to share the Gospel of God’s Grace so that new citizens of God’s kingdom might come in.

5. What does a King’s Ambassador do and get?
As the Ambassador, she/he is the King’s Representative here on Earth within her/his scope of influence – family, office, factory, community, school, and others.
As the Ambassador, she/he is protected by the King. If anybody harms her/him, the King’s wrat would befell on the assailant.
And as the Ambassador, her/his needs are provided by the King.
“And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4: 19).

6. What will the King do in the future?
Because of the sin of mankind, the King will declare war against the Earth’s inhabitants. (Revelation 19: 11-19).

7. What will happen to the King’s Ambassadors?
But before the start of the war – the 7 years of Earth’sTribulation – the King will first recall all of His Ambassadors or citizens of Heaven.
“For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumphet call of God, and the dead in Christ shall rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.” (1 Thessalonians 4: 16-17).
And thus, all citizens of Heaven – each with glorified body, soul and spirit – will be with the the King forever. Amazing!
So, are you a citizen of Heaven?
If not, then you could be left behind not only to experience the horrors of the Earth’s Tribulation, but also the eternal wrath of God in the Lake of Fire. (Revelation 20: 11- 15).

7 JUDGMENTS OF GOD

2 BITE-SIZE SOULFOOD #10

7 JUDGMENTS OF GOD

“So you also must BE READY, because the Son of Man (Jesus Christ) will come at an hour when you do not expect him.” (Matthew 24: 44).
Better be prepared now, than be sorry for all eternity, right?

A. INTRODUCTION
1. While God is love, He is also holy, righteous, and just. God loves sinners, but He hates and punishes sins.
2. And whether we like it or not, all of us must surely attend these 3 key Appointments in the future: Death, Resurrection and Judgment.
3. Right now, are you 100% sure on which God’s Judgment will you attend someday? Would it be an Evaluative Judgment or a Punitive Judgment?
And, would you like to change your Judgment by God to be the best one? That is, hearing God commends you, “Well done, good and faithful servant!” (Matthew 25: 21).

B. 7 GOD’S JUDGMENTS
Here are the 7 Judgments of God for all people:
1. The Judgment Seat of Chist (2 Corinthians 5: 10) – An evaluative Judgment, it is for Church-age Believers only.
After the Rapture (Jesus snatching all Believers to Heaven in a twinkling of an eye as described in 1 Corinthians 15: 50-55), all Believers in Jesus Christ – from the time of Pentecost up to the Rapture – will appear before the judgment seat of Christ in Heaven for reward and loss of reward. This Judgment is based on their lives, ministry and service for the Lord God.
Like the Awarding Ceremonies during Olympic Games, the Crowns that will be given by Lord Jesus Christ to deserving, faithful and prepared Believers are:
a. The Incorruptible Crown (1 Corinthians 9: 24-27) – This reward is for anyone who consistently practice self-discipline, self-control and strict training to win the prize in performing his/her God-given purpose in life – just like what a top Olympic runner aims and does.
b. The Crown of Righteousness (2 Timothy 4: 8) – This reward goes to those who eagerly look forward to the Lord’s coming, keep the faith and live rightheous lives, in view of this sure event.
c. The Crown of Life (James 1: 12, Revelation 2: 10) – This reward is for Believers who faithfully endure and persevere under the tests, persecutions and trials of earthly life.
d. The Crown of Rejoicing (1 Thessalonians 2: 19) – This reward is for Believers who share the Gospel of God’s Grace and win people for Christ.
e. The Crown of Glory (1 Peter 5: 1-4) – This reward is for Pastors, Elders, and Church Leaders who graciously and lovingly shepherd and overee God’s people, by setting the example, while feeding them with God’s Word and love.
2. The Judgment for Old Testament Believers (Daniel 12: 1-3) – All Old Testament Believers (like Abraham, Moses, David) will be resurrected and rewarded after the Second Coming of Jesus Christ (with touchdown in Israel), and before the Millennium.
3. The Judgment of Tribulation Believers (Revelation 20: 4-6) – During Tribulation, those who trust in Jesus Christ, beheaded and die for their faith will be resurrected and rewarded at the end of the 7-years Tribulation.
Tribulation Believers, Old Testament Believers and Church-age Believers will all reign here on Earth together with Jesus Christ – the King of Kings – during the Millennium.
4. The Judgment of Israelis still living at Jesus’ Second Coming (Ezekiel 20: 34-38) – All Israelis who survive the Tribulation will be judged in the wilderness. The saved ones will enter Jesus’ Millennial Kingdom, and the lost will be purged.
5. The Judgment of the Sheep and the Goats (Matthew 25: 31-46) – All Gentiles (non-Jews) who survive the Tribulaton will be judged primarily on how they treated the Israelis. The saved will enter Jesus’ Millennial Kingdom and the lost will be cursed into the eternal Lake of Fire (Hell).
The saved Israelis and the saved Gentiles will then populate the Earth during Jesus’ Millennial reign.
The Millennium would be a reign of joy, peace, justice, economic prosperity, and universal worship, and the presence of God here on Earth in Jesus Christ, who is reigning together with Believers. The popular Chistmas song, “Joy to the World”, will be realized during this period.
6. The Judgment of Satan and Fallen Angels (Revelation 20: 7-10) – The final punitive judgment of Satan and the fallen angels (demons who also rebelled against God) will occur after the Millennial Kingdom – the physical reign of King Jesus Christ for 1,000 years here on Earth, over the whole world.
7. The Great White Throne Judgment for all Unbelievers (Revelation 20: 11-15). The final punitive judgment of all unsaved people (Unbelievers from the time of Adam up to the Millennium) will take place at the end of Millennium.
Unbelievers will be judged based on 2 books: Book of Deeds (sins) and Book of Life.
If anyone’s name is not written in the Lamb’s (Jesus) Book of Life, he/she was thrown in the Lake of Fire – a place of torment, day and night for ever and ever.
Did you notice that, in all of the 7 Judgments, Father God do not judge by Himself and in abstensia? But, Father God has commited all judgments to His Son, Jesus Christ! (Acts 10: 42, John 5: 22-27).
Jesus Christ, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords (Revelation 19: 16), will judge all people – face to face.
Right now, is your name already written in the Lamb’s (Jesus) Book of Life – so you may surely be in Heaven with God for all eternity? (Revelation 20: 15, 21: 27).

C. WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU
In His love, mercy and grace, God allows each man to choose before he dies whether to accept or reject God’s Son, Jesus Christ, as his Savior and Lord (just like what the 2 thieves, crucified with Jesus Christ, did in Luke 23: 32-43).
As a Believer, Jesus Christ (your Sinless Substitute) took away and paid in full the penalty of ALL your sins through His sinless life, His death on the cross, and His resurrection from the dead.
And your name is permanently written in Jesus” (Lamb’s) Book of Life. (Revelation 20: 15).
So, when Jesus Christ, your Savior and Lord, has taken away and paid in full the penalty of ALL your sins, what is the remaining sin in you that God must punish? NOTHING!
But then, why wait for the last moment of your life in order to decide on Who is Jesus Christ to you? (John 3: 16-18).
Remember, you are just 1 heartbeat away from eternal punishment or eternal reward. If your hearbeat stops NOW, then you will surely find yourself in a place/company you will love (Heaven) or abhor (Hell), forever. Hence, the key is NOW!
“I tell you, NOW is the time of God’s favor (grace, Gift) , NOW is the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthians 6: 2).

ALL ABOUT FIRSTFRUITS

ALL ABOUT FIRSTFRUITS

Long Post ahead, but very Rewarding!
Bible Verse: “But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth.” (Deuteronomy 8: 18).
Main Truth: When you put God first, blessings will follow you – earthly and heavenly.

A. INTRODUCTION
Firstfruits is the first principle that God told the Israelites to test, to train and to bless them materially or financially.
It started 3,500 years ago during the time of Joshua when God gave the Israelites the Promised Land – a land flowing with milk and honey, of productive vineyards and of vast fields of barley/wheat, that the Israelites never planted nor cultivated, but they would be harvesting the fruits thereof.
To date, in Israel, the Feast of Firstfruits is still being celebrated yearly. And despite their unbelief in Jesus Christ, God is blessing Israel militarily (Peace), technologically (Protection) and economically (Provision).
Why? Because God is faithful and true to his Word – even on Firstfruits.
Now, would you like to be blessed by God financially?

B. OLD TESTAMENT LESSONS
1. What is Firstfruits?
Firstfruits is the initial harvest from the land.
“Take some of the firstfruits (grapes) of all that you produce frrom the soil of the land the LORD your God is giving you and put them in a basket.” (Deuteronomy 26: 2).
Firstfruits >> Grapes >> Wine >> Blood of Sacrifice >> Jesus Christ
“When you enter the land I am going to give you and reap its harvest, bring to the priest a sheaf of the first grain (barley) you harvest. He is to wave the sheaf to the LORD.” (Leviticus 23: 10-11).
Firstfruits >> Barley >> Bread >> Bread of Life >> Jesus Christ
2. Who will bring the Firstfruits?
All or each and every Israelite family
3. Where to bring the Firstfruits?
God’s Temple – a mobile Worship Center
4. When to bring the Firstfruits?
At the beginning of the barley harvest – or on the first month of the Jewish Calendar (March-April)
5. How much or how many is the Firstfruits? – Just a token.
Basket of Grapes to be waved in the air
Sheaf of Barley to be waved in the air
6. Why bring the Firstfruits?
Initially, to trust God as their Provider, obey his Word on Firstfruits, and the promised blessing for the Believer is bountiful harvest.
Eventually, the Firstfruits become thanksgiving to God for the previous year’s bountiful harvest, and trusting and obeying God for a new bountiful harvest for the new year.
7. To whom the Firstfruits is brought and given?
To God belongs the Firstfruits.
And God gave the Firstfruits to the High Priest. “All the LORD’s Firstfruits that they bring to the LORD will be yours.” (Numbers 18: 13).
The High Priest is the Israelite’s representative to God. Once a year, he offers a scapegoat to transfer and take away the Israelite’s sins for 1 year. And he offers the blood of the sacrificial goat in God’s Temple to cover/atone for the sins of the Israelites for 1 year also.
8. What are the results of trust in God and obedience to his Word on Firstfruits?
Provision (ample rains, sunshine and fertile soil for bountiful harvest)
Protection (from pests, locusts and thieves)
Peace (no wars for sustained prosperity) for the Israelites

C. NEW TESTAMENT APPLICATION
Heavenly/SPIRITUAL BLESSING
The Son of God (Jesus Christ) became Son of Man, so that sons and daughters of men can become sons and daughters of God. (John 1: 12-13).
Jesus Christ is the Firstfruits of the Resurrection (1 Corinthians 15: 20) and He has ascended back to Heaven.
If the part of the dough offered as firstfruits (Jesus Christ) is holy, then the whole batch (All Believers in Christ) is holy. (Romans 11: 16).
When you repent (turn from sin to God) and believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord (John 3: 16), then like Jesus Christ, you will also surely (100%) be resurrected someday and ascend to Heaven – body, soul amd spirit. (1 Corinthians 15: 23, 50-54).
Thus, in terns of spiritual and eternal blessings, you, a Believer in Jesus Christ, are far better off than most Israelites today.
But, you also want financial blessings from the LORD, right?
Earthly/FINANCIAL BLESSING
1. What Firstfruits to bring now?
We are in the Agricultural/Industrial/Information Age.
For the Agricultural Sector – it is first produce from the land like rice, mangoes, vegetables
For the Working Class – Salaries, Commission, Fees
For Business Owners – Income, Dividend
2. Who will bring the Firstfruits?
ACCF Cubao Families
3. Where to bring you Firstfruits (in money equivalent)?
ACCF Cubao Church where you’re being fed with God’s Word as spiritual food.
You can deposit your Firstfruits (through GCash, PayMaya, check or cash deposit) at ACCI BPI account number 0121035502.
4. When to bring your Firstfruits?
During the start or first week of the year 2021 – when you gained some salaries, commissions, income and dividends.
5. How much is your family’s Firstfruits? Just a token.
Agricultural Sector – a kilo of rice, a basket of mangoes or vegetables
For Workers – 1 day salary at most
For Businessmen – 1 day Income at most
But, when in the past you have tasted the goodness and faithfulness of God on Firstfruits, then by thansgiving and faith, you can increase the amount of your family’s Firstfruits for the new year.
6. Why bring your Firstfruits to God?
Because you trust in God and obey his Word on Firstfruits. Firstfruits is God’s basic principle to bless you financially.
7. To whom the Firstfruits is brought and given?
The Firstfruits belong to God and He gives these to his High Priest.
In the New Testament, Jesus Christ is the High Priest forever. (Hebrews 7: 20-22).
But Jesus Christ is in Heaven, so He entrusted the Firstfruits to His Bride, the Church or Believers in Jesus Christ. (Please remember that besides God and His angels, the only 2 things that will last for all eternity in Heaven are God’s Word and Souls of human beings).
God’s primary business here on earth is to win souls of men and women for his Kingdom. And God uses His Church – like the ACCF Cubao Church – as His head, heart, hands, and feet to achieve His purpose.
Hence, the proper stewardship of ACCF Cubao Members’ Firstfruits belongs to ACCF Cubao’s Pastor and Elders – primarily to proclaim God’s Word and to win souls of human beings for God’s Kingdom. (Acts 6).
8. What are the results when your family obeys God’s Word on Firstfruits?
Provision – Bountiful harvest for the year 2021 in terms of bigger salaries, commissions, fees, income, and dividends.
Protection – No lay-offs, but promotion, good health, no unfair competition, no accidents, no calamities, no diseases
Peace – Peace with God, yourself and fellowmen, Industrial peace, no Government intervention, no wars

D. CONCLUSION
By His grace through faith, God is the Source or Provider of our wealth.
Since Jesus Christ is the Firstfruits of the Resurrection, this means that all Believers in Christ are 100% assured that they will also be resurrected someday, and will be with God in Heaven, forever.
But then, God desires to bless his people – Believers in Christ – financially slso while they still live here on earth.
And Firstfruits is God’s primary principle to test and to train Believers in order for them to trust him and obey his Word, so that the LORD can bless them financially or materially.
So, why not trust God and obey his Word on Firstfruits now?
Therefore, when you put God first – even in Firstfruits, Blessings will surely follow you – heavenly and earthly.
To God be all glory!
