IT IS LOGICAL TO ASSUME THAT IF YOU PREACH MORE LAW (TEN COMMANDMENTS), PEOPLE WILL LIVE A HOLY LIFE, BUT THAT IS NOT WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT THE LAW. YOU SEE, SIN GETS ITS STRENGTH FROM THE LAW; SIN IS ENERGIZED BY THE LAW.
(1Cor15:56) “The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.”

THE LAW WAS NOT GIVEN FOR US BECOME TO RIGHTEOUS, BUT FOR US TO HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF SIN.
(Rom 3:20) “Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”

(Rom 7:7) “What shall we say, then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! Indeed I would not have known what sin was except through the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, ‘Do not covet.’”

THE LAW IS HOLY, RIGHTEOUS AND GOOD, BUT IT DOES NOT LIFT A FINGER TO HELP US OVERCOME SIN. THE LAW MAKES US SIN CONSCIOUS, BUT IT HAS NO POWER TO FORGIVE SIN; IT IS JUST LIKE A MIRROR THAT SHOWS US HOW DIRTY WE ARE, BUT IT CANNOT WASH AWAY THE DIRT IN US.

MANY DO NOT REALIZE THAT THE MORE WE FEED ON THE LAW THE MORE WE BECOME LAW BREAKERS. YOU SEE, THE LAW ACTIVATES THE FLESH; THE LAW AROUSES THE SINFUL PASSION IN US.
(Rom 7:5) “For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death.”

(Rom. 7:8) “But sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, produced in me every kind of covetous desire.
THE LAW WAS ADDED SO THAT SIN MIGHT ABOUND.
(Rom 5:20) “The law was added so that the trespass might increase.”

THE LAW IS HOLY, RIGHTEOUS AND GOOD, BUT IN ORDER TO SHOW HOW TERRIBLE SIN IS, THROUGH THE COMMANDMENT, IT PRODUCED DEATH IN ME SO THAT SIN MIGHT BECOME UTTERLY SINFUL.
(Rom 7:12-13) “So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous and good. Did that which is good, then, become death to me? By no means! But in order that sin might be recognized as sin, it produced death in me through what was good, so that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful.”

THE LAW WAS ADDED BECAUSE OF TRANSGRESSIONS UNTIL JESUS, THE PROMISED SEED, COMES.
(Gal 3:19) “What, then, was the purpose of the law? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise referred had come.”

SO WHEN THE TIME HAD FULLY COME, GOD SENT HIS SON BORN OF A WOMAN, BORN UNDER LAW, TO REDEEM THOSE UNDER LAW.
(Gal 4:4-5) “But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons.”

WHEN CHRIST CAME HE FULFILLED ALL THE RIGHTEOUS REQUIREMENTS OF THE LAW “IN US” (THOSE WHO ARE IN CHRIST). HE THEN MEDIATED A NEW COVENANT OF GRACE WITH THE FATHER AND PLACED THOSE WHO ARE IN CHRIST UNDER IT.
(Rom 8:3-4) “For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man, in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.”

THE NEW COVENANT OF GRACE THAT CHRIST MEDIATED WAS FOUNDED ON BETTER PROMISES.
(Heb 8:6) “But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.”

UNDER THIS COVENANT, RIGHTEOUSNESS IS A GIFT BY FAITH IN CHRIST JESUS.
(Rom. 3:21-22) “But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.”

BEAR IN MIND THAT THE TEN COMMANDMENTS IS OLD COVENANT OF THE LAW.
(Deut 4:13) “He declared to you His covenant, the “Ten Commandments”, which He commanded you to follow and then wrote them on two stone tablets.”

THE OLD COVENANT OF THE LAW HAD TO BE CANCELED TO GIVE WAY FOR THE NEW COVENANT OF GRACE THAT CHRIST MEDIATED WITH THE FATHER.
(Col 2:13c-14) “He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross.”

CHRIST IS THE END OF THE LAW SO THAT THERE MAY BE RIGHTEOUSNESS FOR EVERYONE WHO BELIEVES.”
(Rom 10:4) “Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.”

UNDER GRACE (NEW COVENANT) SIN IS POWERLESS OVER US, BUT IT DOES NOT GIVES US THE LICENSE TO COMMIT SIN.
(Rom 6:14) “For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!”

UNDER GRACE, WE HAVE BEEN SET FREE FROM SIN AND BECOME SLAVES TO GOD, PRODUCING FRUIT TO HOLINESS. TRUE HOLINESS COMES FROM GRACE!
(Rom 6:22) “But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.”
