ALTHOUGH IN CHRIST WE ARE “DEAD TO THE LAW” (Rom 7:4) AND “RELEASED FROM THE LAW” (Rom 7:6-7) AND NOW UNDER THE NEW COVENANT OF GRACE THAT CHRIST MEDIATED WITH THE FATHER (Heb 8:6-13), WE ARE NOT LAWLESS LIKE SOME OTHER PEOPLE CHARGE US WITH.
YOU SEE, OUR LORD GAVE US A NEW COMMANDMENT ALSO KNOWN AS THE ROYAL LAW OF LOVE TO GUIDE US BY.
(John 13:34) “A new commandment I give to you, that you LOVE ONE ANOTHER; AS I HAVE LOVED YOU, that you also love one another.”
THE HOLY SPIRIT THROUGH THE APOSTLE PAUL SAYS THAT “LOVE IS THE FULFILLMENT OF THE LAW.”
(Rom 13:8) Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law.
(Rom 13:9) The commandments, “Do not commit adultery,” “Do not murder,” “Do not steal,” “Do not covet,” and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
(Rom 13:10) Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore LOVE IS THE FULFILLMENT OF THE LAW.
UNDER GRACE (NEW COVENANT) WE ARE FURTHER ADMONISHED TO:
DO EVERYTHING IN LOVE (1Cor 16:14);
TO SERVE ONE ANOTHER IN LOVE (Gal 5:13) and
TO WALK IN LOVE (Eph 5:2).
WHOEVER LIVES IN LOVE LIVES IN GOD, AND GOD IN HIM.
(1Jn 4:16b) “God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.”
GOD’S COMMANDMENT UNDER THE NEW COVENANT SAYS:
(1Jn 3:23-24) “And this is His commandment: that WE SHOULD BELIEVE ON THE NAME OF HIS SON JESUS CHRIST and LOVE ONE ANOTHER, as He gave us commandment. Now HE WHO KEEPS HIS COMMANDMENTS ABIDES IN HIM, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.”
GREATEST IS LOVE!
(1Cor 13:13) “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
IT’S ALL ABOUT JESUS!
